Your choice to change
For those of us who do have access – to food, water, beds, TV, DVDs, computers, hamburgers, chips, candy, and blog writing – there is still that matter of health – and choice to feel better of not.
We can arm ourselves with excuses – such as the reality of time, children, parents, phone calls, work (oh! blessed work) – and of course social pressures.
One reason we resist making deliberate choices is that choice equals change and most of us, feeling the world is unpredictable enough, try to minimise the trauma of change in our personal lives. – Hugh Mackay
Or – we can face up to it. We want to be healthy, we want to get to a state of wellness – and we do have a choice. A choice to change.
Change is always hard, they say – well, it can be…
Hard or easy choice?
If the vision is that lifestyle change is a hard boot camp approach – then change is hard. But – when you realise that it is a matter of small tweaks, small steps every day that combined make a big difference – then the change becomes more manageable.
Change is hard if it means following a hardcore detox regime, a given diet or running a marathon next month. But – when you see that it is about understanding some core ideas, and having fun with it, and taking it at a pace that suits you, and your individual challenges – then change can be something we embrace.
Day by day – Step by step
Lifestyle changes is about understanding and incorporating daily tweaks and steps which become habits. Lifestyle changes that include eating sound nutritious food, exercising a bit every day, sleeping well and long enough, balancing work and life, dealing with the reality of stress, having ‘good thoughts and motivation’ and mostly it is about enjoying the moment – and making a life for you and your family, full of memorable mind collections.
Lifestyle change – a key choice for life
It is about making lifestyle choices – that we do have the luxury to make, and a challenge I am so glad I took.
I can understand that choosing means changing, and therefore that much harder. Yet – the clock does not stop, and key choices become life changes – that remain. I choose to feel better. Are you ready to make a few changes to your life?
